… The experience was amazing. … He took us to see turtles, reef sharks, sting rays, and even mantas although it was not the season … also took us very close to some marine life to get good video footage … So if you are looking for a reasonably priced diving holiday in the Maldives, Dhonfanu is definitely the place to go in Baa Atoll. We will be back for Manta season!!

We stayed & dived with Fehi Velaa Dive & Stay on Dhonfanu, which is one of the closest island to Hanifaru, so it was quick to be first to snorkel with the mantas 🤩& whale sharks 🥰

In fact, we came to Fehi twice & both times, on the first night, we watched whale sharks feeding just meters from us for almost an hour! Incredible experience!

Hussain the owner, went above & beyond with our activities! He also found us a whale shark again to scuba dive with the next day! He’s like a whale shark whisperer!

During our dives, his passion for the underwater world, years in resorts & 13 years experience in Baa Atoll rewarded us with some spectacular adventures. He certainly knows the local sites incredibly well 👍

Fehi Velaa Stay takes has a 10 guests capacity at their guesthouse so all our activities were in small personable groups

For water activities, the shop has both a spacious Dhoni & speed boat for quick trips to be first there for animal encounters 👍

Their rooms are very spacious, modern & comfortable. With good air conditioning, interior lighting, cupboard space, electrical plugs & even international plug adaptors for charging many devices with new furniture, a desk, & a very comfortable bed 🤗

The chef, Jineesh, who cooked all our meals was a sous chef from Marriott & Starwood hotels with 14 years experience. So we had both western & eastern meals… but our favorite was his homemade-from-scratch Indian recipes & breads 😋 all finished off with a nightly surprise dessert.

We highly recommend Fehi Velaa Dive & Stay on Dhonfanu to anyone looking for a great diving experience in the Maldives!

I spent my diving holiday here at Fehi Velaa Dive, a dive center with its own guesthouse and kitchen on the local island of Dhonfanu in the Baa Atoll in the Maldives, and I can only say that it was a fantastic experience!

The room provided to me was simply amazing. It was comfortable and tastefully decorated, making me feel at home right away. The furnishings gave the space a very pleasant atmosphere.

The food at the guesthouse of the dive center was an absolute highlight. I was particularly impressed by the fresh fish caught by the chef personally. Every meal was a culinary delight, and I enjoyed the variety of dishes.

Now, onto the diving – it was simply incredible! I ended up doing more dives than originally planned because it was so fascinating. The on-site team was extremely professional and friendly, ensuring that I felt safe and got to explore the best dive spots in the area. The support was truly top-notch, and I felt well taken care of at all times.

For the last day of my stay, a trip to a resort was organized, which was a perfect conclusion to my time on Dhonfanu. This gave me the opportunity to experience the luxury and amenities of a resort while enjoying the charming atmosphere of the local island. It was a wonderful contrast and an unforgettable day.

All in all, I can highly recommend the dive center on Dhonfanu in the Baa Atoll in the Maldives. The fantastic room, delicious food, incredible diving, and excellent support made the vacation an unforgettable experience.

We spent a week on Dhonfanu over Christmas and New Year’s and did 10 dives and 2 snorkeling trips with Fehi Velaa Dive. We were among their first customers since they only opened the dive center this summer. The experience was amazing. Hussain, one of the owners, is a wonderful and very experienced dive guide. He took us to see turtles, reef sharks, sting rays, and even mantas although it was not the season in Baa Atoll. We went on a full day boat trip to Raa Atoll to snorkel with mantas and dived at a manta cleaning station. On our last day during a snorkeling trip in the house reef, we saw eight green turtles!! Hussain also took us very close to some marine life to get good video footage and filmed us with turtles with our camera, which makes for a wonderful souvenir. Silke and Andreas, the other owners, a couple from Germany, where also diving with us during our stay. They were very nice and very helpful and gave us a lot of useful information before and during our stay. The boat crew on the dive center’s Dhoni was also very helpful, preparing equipment and assisting us with getting in and out of the water. In between dives they provided us with fresh coconut and hot tea. This is our first time in the Maldives, so we cannot compare this experience with the resorts. However, what’s for sure is that the resorts are too expensive and we would not be willing to spend that kind of money. So if you are looking for a reasonably priced diving holiday in the Maldives, Dhonfanu is definitely the place to go in Baa Atoll. We will be back for Manta season!!

First of all, we had a really great time. We are quite experienced divers and we have dived many places in the world (850+ dives). But the Maldives are one of our favorite places. We like dive operator with small groups and personal attention. We had the pleasure to be the very first guests of Fehi Velaa Dive. If we got it right, we were even the first western guests ever to stay on Dhonfanu. The team from Fehi Velaa Dive is great. Hussein is a great dive guide with a lot!!! of experience. He makes sure guests get the best diving possible. We like his guiding style a lot. He points out special things to see and he let us dive on our own when it was appropriate. Silke and Andreas are great hosts and although we were the first guests, they had organized everything very well. Since we were the first guests, the restaurant had to get used to us tourists. The same applies to the locals. Curious kids wanted to try out their English on us and the shy kids ran away from us 😉. A funny story was the neighbor (listed on Google as a pet shop) whom I helped attend one of his birds and who then wanted to give me a bird as a present. Especially worth mentioning is the extremely short way to Hanifaru Bay. We were there 3 times and we loved it. The diving in general was great. We saw everything from small nudibranchs to huge Mantas. If you are looking for personal attention, great diving and the flair of an unspoiled local island this is the place for you. This is not the best option if you are looking for a high level 5 star resort and an extensive nightlife. We will remember this special trip as a real highlight which is hard to top. We will definitely come back.

Our relaxed diving vacation already started at home. The Team of Fehi Velaa Dive was always there to help us with the planning and organized not only transfer, accommodation and food, but even the required PCR tests. Once we arrived in Dhonfanu everything also went smoothly. We didn’t have to worry about anything and the diving made us more than happy. Especially the intense Manta encounters we will never forget. Thank you for the wonderful time. We will definitely come again!
